Unusual Longtail SEO Strategy!

(Do This And You’ll Make More Money From Your Website)

Seo Campaigns Usually Start With The Head Terms

Most SEO campaigns start off with a handful of keywords, some competitive and some not so, based on search volume from certain SEO tools. Once the SEO campaign is underway the website will start to get increased traffic and decent rankings, depending on how good the SEO company is :)

The website will not only start to receive traffic from the handful of keywords that are proposed in the initial planning of the campaign, but also from a plethora of related keywords. Once the site is established and has been building links for a significant amount of time you can expect the ‘longtail’ to be responsible for 70%+ of the overall website traffic. The 10 or so head terms you were originally targeting will be bringing in about 30%.

The Longtail Is More Important

Long Tail image from Shunt Money

So this really flips around the importance of those head terms onto the long tail terms. The long tail terms are generally more targeted than head terms.Someone searching for ‘Widget’ is considerably less qualified to buy than someone who is searching for ‘Red Widget That Makes Noises’. The person searching for ‘Red Widget That Makes Noises’ is probably searching with one hand, because the other one is holding a credit card.

But… This Doesn’t Mean Ignore The Head Terms

You’re ranking for all these ‘long tail’ terms because they are related longer phrase variations of the head terms. By link building for the parent or seed term, you are indirectly helping the variations rank. So it is a great idea to hook your link building strategy around the head terms (obviously mix your anchor text), with a view to maximize the long tail traffic using a lot of content that contains a lot of related phrases on the targeted pages.

Link Build To The Head Terms, But Use Content To Maximize The Long Tail

You should make sure your targeted pages include long tail phrases and terms. It’s infeasible to link build to every single long tail anchor text, it’s also a bit pointless looking at traffic for each separate long tail phrase (they are so minimal). You should use a mix of common sense and very quick keyword research to decide what terms to include in your content. I usually try and target 10-15 variations on each of my target pages. It may be an idea to create extra pages if you don’t want to clutter your money pages with content.

It is best site practice to make sure every page on your site has great content, including long tail phrases and variatons.

Keyword Modifiers To Qualify Buyers (Secret Sauce Of The Blog Post)

Whatever your product is, it will have some modifiers that qualify buyers in the market. These are the perfect longtail searches! For most ecommerce markets it is the following:

  • Cheap
  • Order
  • Buy
  • Purchase
  • Online
  • Shop
  • Delivery
  • Deals
  • Offers
  • Review
  • Comparison
  • Vouchers
  • Best
So shouldn’t these keywords be included in our content? Hell yeah, these keywords are the most important longtails of all! The searcher is TELLING US they want to buy, and these searches exist, even if Google tells you they have no searches. Just trust me on this one :)
So, how do you incorporate these modifiers in your content strategy? You’ll need to make it natural. Be Creative. You may have to make a comparison page. You may have to start offering vouchers and offers (to warrant the existence of the page). You’ll have to talk about delivery. You’ll have to talk about cheap, and include all buy, order, and purchase words (in the text, not buttons).
So if I’m talking about my classic widget example, I’d use a tool like MergeWords to fist of all get my list of longtail phrases.
So my list looks something like:
Cheap widgets
Order widgets
Buy widgets
Purchase widgets
Online widgets
Shop widgets
Delivery widgets
Deals widgets
Offers widgets
Review widgets
Comparison widgets
Vouchers widgets
Best widgets
I’ll need to incorporate these into my widget page somehow, or create new pages that warrant these search terms.

If Nothing Else, Include Keyword Modifiers In Your Content To Catch Some Long-Tail BUYING Traffic.

Do this today, and your website will make more money.

If you liked this post share it on Twitter and what not :)

Cheers

SEO - What’s that?

SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimisation!

So… What does that mean?

In simple terms SEO is the process of making your website gain a higher ranking in the search engines, than others sites with the same niche or market as yours for relative keywords.

Why is this important?

Search engines are the biggest way to get traffic to your site! Internet surfers almost always look for information they need, if your website provides that but does not show up when they seek it, then your site is next to useless!

Visibility is key!

SEO makes your site more visible to internet users! Marketing is all about getting more people to see what you’re selling or promoting – SEO is search engine marketing! It is the best way to say “Hey! Look, I’ve got what you need!” to people using search engines. And after all, the majority of people use search engines, if not everybody!

And…?

Baisicly, that is what SEO consists of! It is making it easier for people to find you! It is marketing by keyword competition in the search engines. There are so many ways to do SEO, and here at TEKnet we have mastered them all!

How to choose the right SEO Search Marketing Company

There are so many SEO and Search Marketing companies out there and making the right decision is often a daunting task, especially when you don’t have the knowledge to completely understand how Search Engine Optimisationworks.

In this short blog I will offer some tips and advice on how to choose the right company for your business!

Price – How much should SEO cost for my company?

Price is obviously an important factor for business owners however unfortunately I talk to business everyday who have let the price dictate the company they choose. This is mistake number 1. You shouldn’t let price be an overall factor when hiring an SEO company. Remember if something sounds to good to be true then it probably is, especially when it comes to SEO. £50 per month on SEO wouldn’t even cover our costs and time spent on link building, article syndication and so on, no matter how small the campaign was. Surely if £50 a month was the bee all and end all of great SEO wouldn’t every online company be successful? That said it doesn’t mean you have to spend tens of thousands on SEO either. The price for a killer SEO strategy includes a number of factors such as how competitive your market is. For a local business owner looking to dominate local searches then the cost associated would more than likely be less than £500 per month however for a larger company looking to compete with the car insurance sector will need to certainly add a zero or two to that figure to really see competitive ranking results. If SEO is done the right way, abiding by all of the Search Engines rules (White Hat) then a good SEO company is worth it’s waiting gold as long as you can really calculate a return on investment which is most cases you will!

SEO Packages or Bespoke Strategies?

This is a hot topic amongst SEO professionals however my opinion? If SEO comes in packages then this often doe’s not suit anyone but the company offering the package in the first place!
You often find that these packages also don’t offer any guarantees. Now I am not Google and us SEO professionals cant guarantee anything (don’t believe anyone who claims they can) however if you choose a package with 5,000 back links, article syndications, directory submissions etc what ranking results can you really expect to see for your business? My answer – You don’t know! It depends on many factors which is why if I was choosing (a bit biased I know) I would choose a bespoke strategy which why tailored personally to my business. When we offer SEO we ensure we fully understand the market place a business is in and research the top competition before providing our clients with a SEO proposal.

Research the proposed SEO company – Check for testimonials!

Now what I mean here is not spending hours and hours researching every client that has ever dealt with your proposed company however just simply type the business name into Google. Have a scan through the first few pages and ensure you see no bad reviews of the business. Google will tell you an awful lot about the business just by using the power of search.
Oh another thing, check for testimonials and case studies. This will often show you the Proof of Power of the SEO company. Check out our case study “How we can triple the size of a business“.

You don’t have to choose your hosting company or web designer to do the SEO!

Ok this is another potential mistake a business can make. Just because your web designer built your website and possibly host’s it, it doesn’t mean you have to agree to there claims “we can do SEO too”. Ok, you might think this is a contradiction because here at TEKnet we offer Web Design and SEO however we particularly focus in Search Engine Optimisation. The fact that we are also technical enough to build websites is a bonus for our clients. Anyway, back to the point, what I am trying to say is that there’s not many companies that are Experts at both no matter how much they claim to be. You will usually find a brilliant web designer that is excellent at what he does however SEO is a completely different kettle of fish altogether. Don’t feel tied in to talking multiple services from your web designer. You will receive the most powerful results if you use a combination of top professional companies in each sector.

These opinions are based from my knowledge in the SEO industry and a previous knowledge of being a business owner myself. I hope this will give you some good advice and guidance on choosing the right SEO company for your business.

Did you know?

In 2011 over £50 billion will be spent online by UK consumers.
83% of UK online shoppers use search engines to research a purchase.

Try our FREE SEO Audit to see what your position is in your Market

Check out how we grew a small Forklift company into a Multi Million Pound Enterprise!

To give an indication of the quality of our work, we currently enjoy a host of number 1 ranks across an array of highly competitive markets. An example of this is the forklift market where we carry out the optimisation for the The Forklift Company. They enjoy top ranks for heavily competitive ‘operative’ search terms such as forklifts, used forklifts, forklift company etc beating the likes of Toyota, Yale, Nissan and Jungheinrich for the past two years (which can be confirmed by our client who is fully reference able). Try it now »> Open up Google and search for “Forklifts” Were we right?

How we did this: To Simplify
1. We familiarise ourselves with the business and the market they are competing in and research the competition were up against
2. We conduct a full SEO audit on the website to identify possible underlined issues and find out the current rankings
3. Next we analyse the keywords associated around the business to find out the searches that are happening in Google every month
4. From the data we have we then proposed a bespoke SEO strategy with time scales involved and results we expect

This is simple stuff and obviously were not giving our trade secrets out but it works. We know from our PROVEN track record.

The companies we are getting business to beat in Google are multi million pound international companies which have thousands and thousands of £££’s Internet marketing spend. We are realistic with a proven track record and our charges are no where near the same however they WILL deliver you a sky high return on investment and we promise we wont fluff around with wishy washy answers on what results we intend to achieve.

Grabbed your attention?

Keep reading we have got some more valuable information for you.

Proof of Power

When your considering an Internet Marketing company or an SEO provider consider the following:

1. Their depth and breadth of knowledge
2. Do they offer bespoke strategies tailored to you or do they use packages which often fit no one but themselves
3. Do they provide reporting software to view progress on rankings
4. Do you feel you can work with them effectively and have confidence in them
5. The overall most important factor to think about when considering an SEO provider is their POWER

With this in mind here are some results we have achieved

Our Guarantees

Work for FREE guarantee
If none of your keywords are ranked on page 1 in Google within the time we advise you then we will continue to work for FREE until they do.

Only White Hat techniques
We will only use White Hat SEO techniques on your SEO campaign. None of our strategies break the rules or terms stipulated by the Major Search Engines. Black/Grey Hat SEO techniques may get you quick results but be warned these results will usually last a couple of days and then the Search Engines will find you and ban you!

Data Protection
We will not share data about your business which is not already in the public domain. We will never share with anyone or any business unless you have agreed to provide us with a case study on your success from hiring us.

We have the edge over all other Internet marketing Companies
To ensure we stay ahead in our market and continue to provide results time after time we promise to spend at least 8 hours per week researching Search Engines updates, updating software and improving our Internet marketing and SEO knowledge. We also promise to never deliver our SEO strategies into to packages which no idea on results.

Don’t take our word for it see what our customers say

Here are my detail’s again to save you scrolling back to the top :-)

Look forward to hearing from you.

Do We Own The Most Valuable Website In The UK?

Following our post about the loss of keyword referrer data, we sat and thought about how we could possibly get some good out of this terrible situation.

If Google are hiding referrer data, and simply displaying it as (not provided), soon enough all our clients most converting keywords will actually be ‘(not provided)’. Interesting.

So, for every website in the world, the most converting organic keyword will be ‘(not provided)’. This keyword is pretty valuable then? The #1 converting keyword in the UK across all industries is ‘not provided‘.

So we brought the domain, it’s for sale!
